Help Bring Pastor John Cao Home
President Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 24.
Please add your name to this humanitarian appeal asking President Trump to personally request that President Xi return Pastor John Cao’s passport and allow him to come home to his family.
The Petition
To President Donald J. Trump:
Mr. President,
We respectfully ask you to personally raise the case of Pastor John Cao with President Xi Jinping during your upcoming meeting.
Pastor Cao is a U.S. permanent resident who devoted years of his life to Christian humanitarian work among impoverished communities along the China-Myanmar border.
In 2017, he was arrested by the Chinese government and sentenced to seven years in prison. He served every day of his sentence.
Pastor Cao was released in 2024, but he is still not permitted to leave China because the government has not returned his passport.
Now he is fighting stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to his bones and spine. He has undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatment while his family waits for him in the United States. His one-year-old grandson, Conner, has never met him.
Mr. President, this is a humanitarian request:
Please ask President Xi to return Pastor John Cao’s passport and allow him to come home to his family. He has served his sentence, and he may not have much time left to spend with his family.
Please help bring Pastor John Cao home.
